Cherrytree's Ivy Levan Continues to Promote "No Good" Debut Album

Cherrytree Records artist Ivy Levan is ready to make a lasting impression on the pop genre with her debut album No Good, out on August 7. Following the dance hit status of lead single "Biscuit", her SPY film contribution "Who Can You Trust" and collaborations with Diplo and Sting, the talented vocalist has shared the title track to her sure-to-be explosive "swamp-hop" project.

"No Good" is a slow, sultry-sounding track where Levan claims the love of her man has left her in an unpleasant state of mind. When compared to the aforementioned lead single, all of the artist's follow up releases have been on the mid-tempo side of the spectrum. The new release is no different. Levan's soulful, edgy vocals quickly take the spotlight, supported by layered production that stays true to the style she's created for herself over the years.

The three-minute track is short and sweet, nothing too chaotic or unnecessary. "Your love, your love, makes me no good, I'm just no good," Levan belts on the track's captivating chorus, just before a Western film-influenced beat comes sneaking through. With all the elements of a traditional ballad, the artist keeps things interesting with some sass in her vocal performance that would fit in perfectly with the traditional rock genre.

Having performed "No Good" during her mesmerizing set during SXSW in Austin earlier this year, the song definitely lives up to the memorable live performance. Early reports indicate the new release is being set up as the upcoming album's official second single. Safe choice if those reports are true. Levan is able to give her all on the track, ring every bit of emotion into her words as she asserts her independence with fierce attitude.

While fans have not gotten another uptempo gem like "Biscuit", the newly released "No Good" shows Levan is not messing around as she sets her sights on chart success and possible award gold. Instead of gimmicky, overproduced beats, the artist is confident enough to rely on her true, natural talents. With some of the best vocals for a new artist, the single keeps Levan chugging down the right road.

And if for some insane reason, you have not heard Levan's epic collaboration with the legendary Sting, do so now. "Killing You" is easily one of the stronger, effortless duets of 2015.

UPDATE (07/30/2015): At this rate, we will hear Ivy Levan's debut album, No Good, in full before its official August 7th release date. From lead single "Biscuit" to the sultry title track, the up-and-coming pop artist has already shared six of the 11 featured album tracks. The latest, the catchy yet somber "Best Damn Thing", is equally as impressive as its predecessors, shining light on Levan's gorgeous vocals and the song's personal lyrical content. Enjoy!
