Judge me by my work says Smriti Irani

Union Human Resource Development minister Smriti Irani broke her silence on Thursday on the row on her educational qualification and has said that that she must be judged by her work.

“Judge me by my work, I would only say this,” Irani said.

The HRD Minister said that opposition is attempting to deviate her from the assigned task. She said party has always entrusted him and has shown confidence in her.

“Attempts are being made to deviate my attention from my work. The party has always entrusted me with assignments as they have confidence in me,” the HRD Minister said.

Congress leader Meem Afzal, meanwhile, has demanded a clarification asking that Smriti said in an affidavit for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and the 2011 Rajya Sabha elections that she is B Com Ist year pass while in a previous affidavit for the 2004 Lok Sabha elections, she had that she has completed BA. “Is she lying,” he questioned.

“In 2004 Smriti said in affidavit that she is BA pass, in 2014 she said she is B Com 1st year. Is the Education Minister lying? BJP must clarify,” he said.

Smriti Irani, who assumed office as HRD minister, was targeted by Congress leader Ajay Maken who questioned her education credentials on the microblogging site, Twitter.

“What a Cabinet of Modi? HRD Minister (Looking after Education) Smriti Irani is not even a graduate!Look at her affidavit at ECI site pg 11!” he tweeted. The tweet has since led to a big row.
